Community Grant 2023

Call for Community Grant Proposals

The Grant Committee, a subset of the Steamboat Springs Education Fund Board (EFB), is excited to announce its grants program for the coming year. Community Grant applications will be vetted by the Grant Committee and awarded by the Board in a competitive process based on available funds. Community Grants are awarded to community organizations that provide educational programming for students in the K-12 public schools in Routt County.

Each grant application is reviewed and recommended for funding based on merit and should be aligned with the Fund’s mission. Past funding is not a guarantee of future funding. Community Grants require collaboration with the districts and a close connection to school programming.

Community Grant recipients from the Spring 2023 granting cycle included Integrated Community,  Northwest Colorado Health, Opera Steamboat, Partners in Routt County, Rocky Mountain Youth Corps, Steamboat Symphony Orchestra, Junior Achievement, Steamboat Dance Theatre, STARS, Yampa Valley Autism, Steamboat Reading, Routt County Riders, Colorado Crane Conservation Coalition, Strings in the Mountains, and Yampatika.

Schedule:

  • January 26, 2024 – Community Grant Applications are due
  • May 15, 2024 – Community Grants awarded by the Board

Funds are to be deployed in the following academic school year.

The Steamboat Springs Education Fund (SSEF) is a nonprofit, independent corporation that administers the proceeds of the half-cent sales tax—five cents on a $10 purchase. The half-cent city sales tax was originally approved by Steamboat voters in 1993 to fund “public K-12 educational purposes.” The tax was extended by voter approval in three subsequent elections. In 2009, voters extended the tax and expanded the purpose to share a portion of the proceeds of the tax with other Routt County public schools. Since 1993, more than $81.5M has been granted directly for public K-12 education in Routt County.
