Steamboat Springs Education Fund (SSEF) Board unanimously approved over $7 million dollars ($7,042,942) in grants to public education in Routt County for the 2022-2023 grant cycle. A major increase in sales tax revenue resulted in the largest amount ever awarded since the inception of the fund. The board also approved a change to categorical grant applications for the school districts.

Grants awarded to school districts include $5,690,868 to Steamboat Springs School District, $357,690 to Hayden School District, $286,722 to South Routt School District, and $286,722 to Steamboat Montessori. This year with increased funds availability, ten community non-profits were granted funding for school-based programming totaling $233,440. The community non-profits receiving grants were: Integrated Community, Northwest Colorado Health, Opera Steamboat, Partners in Routt County, Rocky Mountain Youth Corps, STARS, Steamboat Dance Theater, Steamboat Symphony Orchestra, Yampatika, and Junior Achievement. Two additional grants were awarded for a total of $87,500, funding one grant writer for Steamboat Springs, South Routt, and Hayden school districts and one for Steamboat Montessori. The grant writers typically secure over $2 million per year in additional funds for the school districts.
