School District Grants

Call for School District Grant Proposals

The Grant Commission of the Steamboat Springs Education Fund (SSEF) is excited to announce its grants program for the coming year. School District Grant applications will be vetted by the Grant Commission and awarded by the Board based on available funds.

School District Grants are awarded to public K-12 school districts and public charter schools in Routt County. Eligible districts and schools include Steamboat Springs School District (including North Routt Community Charter School), South Routt School District, Hayden School District, and Mountain Village Montessori Charter School.

Each grant application is reviewed and recommended for funding based on merit and should be aligned with the Fund’s mission. Past funding is not a guarantee of future funding.

School districts will receive the grant application template from the SSEF Administrator immediately following the March 3, 2021 SSEF Board meeting.  For additional information about this year’s grant application process, please contact educationfundboard@gmail.com.

Schedule:

  • March 10, 2021 – School District Grant Applications are due
  • May 5, 2021 – School District Grants awarded by the Board

Funds are to be deployed in the following academic school year.

The Steamboat Springs Education Fund (SSEF) is a nonprofit, independent corporation that administers the proceeds of the half-cent sales tax—five cents on a $10 purchase. The half-cent city sales tax was originally approved by Steamboat voters in 1993 to fund “public K-12 educational purposes.” The tax was extended by voter approval in three subsequent elections. In 2009, voters extended the tax and expanded the purpose to share a portion of the proceeds of the tax with other Routt County public schools. Since 1993, more than $67M has been granted directly for public K-12 education in Routt County.
