School District Grants

Call for School District Grant Proposals

The Grant Committee of the Steamboat Springs Education Fund (SSEF) is excited to announce its grants program for the coming year. School District Grant applications will be vetted by the Grant Committee and awarded by the Board based on available funds.

School District Grants are awarded to public K-12 school districts and public charter schools in Routt County. Eligible districts and schools include Steamboat Springs School District (including North Routt Community Charter School), South Routt School District, Hayden School District, and Steamboat Montessori Charter School.

Each grant application is reviewed and recommended for funding based on merit and should be aligned with the Fund’s mission. Past funding is not a guarantee of future funding.

School districts will receive the grant application template from the SSEF Administrator early in 2022.  For additional information about this year’s grant application process, please email us.

Schedule:

  • March 16, 2023 – School District Categorical Grant Applications are sent out to each school district
  • April 5, 2023 – Completed Categorical Grant Applications are due
  • May 17, 2023 – School District Grants awarded by the Board

The Steamboat Springs Education Fund (SSEF) is a nonprofit, independent corporation that administers the proceeds of the half-cent sales tax—five cents on a $10 purchase. The half-cent city sales tax was originally approved by Steamboat voters in 1993 to fund “public K-12 educational purposes.” The tax was extended by voter approval in three subsequent elections. In 2009, voters extended the tax and expanded the purpose to share a portion of the proceeds of the tax with other Routt County public schools. Since 1993, more than $75M has been granted directly for public K-12 education in Routt County.
